The events and the situation in Ukraine have also left us speechless. War in Europe, not for the first time in almost 80 years after the catastrophe and violence that the Nazis brought to the world from Germany! But it is closer, bigger and more threatening than most of us have seen in our lifetimes. Millions are fleeing war, destruction and death. Many tens of thousands are already in Germany and need our help.
As a sign of our solidarity, we, the Popchor Spandau, have produced a video with the message "Give us peace" and would like to appeal for donations to Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe for the citizens of Ukraine, who are also risking their lives for our freedom and our democratic values. We hope for a quick end to the Russian leadership's aggressive attacks and resulting violence.
At the same time, we are concerned about those in Russia who show courage, stand up, speak out and are persecuted for doing so. This message should be for them as well!

The number of people fleeing across the borders to Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and the Republic of Moldova is increasing by the hour. So far, more than 2.3 million people have fled the country to safety, most of them women and children.
